Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SkipEdit (the "Service"), operated by SkipEdit ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What SkipEdit is

SkipEdit turns a talking-head lecture recording and a slide deck (PDF) into a finished presenter-plus-slides video. You upload your files; we transcribe the speech, use AI to align each slide to the moment you discuss it, and render a video you can download. The Service processes your real recording — it does not create a synthetic presenter.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You must provide accurate account information and notify us of any unauthorised use.

3. Credits and payment

  • Credits are prepaid. One credit is consumed when a video is analysed. Rendering and re-rendering that video are free.
  • Credits do not expire and are non-transferable between accounts.
  • New accounts receive a small number of free trial credits. Trial output may carry a watermark.
  • Purchases are processed by our payment provider, Paddle, acting as the merchant of record. Prices are shown at checkout and may change over time.
  • Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

4. Your content and the licence you give us

You retain all ownership of the recordings, slides, and finished videos you upload or generate ("Your Content"). You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights or any law.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, transcription, slide alignment, rendering, and delivery). We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Storage is temporary. We automatically delete your uploaded files and intermediate data about 7 days after upload, and finished videos about 30 days after they are produced (see our Privacy Policy for details). Please download your finished video to keep a copy — we are not a long-term storage service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • upload content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights;
  • upload unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or infringing material;
  • attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • resell or provide the Service to third parties except as expressly permitted.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or platform beyond using the Service as intended. Your Content remains yours.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend the Service for maintenance. Processing times depend on third-party GPU capacity and may vary.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available"without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that AI-proposed slide timings will always be perfect — you can review and adjust them before rendering.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) continue to apply.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notified to you. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
